Bowie Before Us

Generally, I feel like I have been born in the wrong decade. I may be a girl of the 21st Century, but my heart and spirit has always been the 20th century. Anytime from the 20s to the 80s, those are my years of great fashion, great change and great Icons. Such as David Bowie. The Genius! As I was watching a documentary about him I have discovered how I appreciate his uniqueness. I am in ore of his style and his music.

After discovering this artist in my art class I am now curious how he is able to to do this type of intricate art!

'Maurizio Anzeri makes his portraits by sewing directly into found vintage photographs. His embroidered patterns garnish the figures like elaborate costumes, but also suggest a psychological aura, as if revealing the person’s thoughts or feelings. "Growing up in the jungles of India there was no need for drawing or painting, I would sometimes arrange ants into primitive still lives or scratch out portraits onto the trunks of trees. Things changed when I was 11, a lame tiger who owned a stationery shop gave me the keys to his stock room. I would roll around in acrylic and oil pastels in a reverie, licking canvases and tucking coloured pencils into my wild hair. It was here I learned how to draw and paint well enough to be accepted into Croyden Art College. Day of the Dead!!!

I really love this mexican festival. Rather than thinking of it as creepy that it is celebrating the dead, I think it is beautiful and an amazing way of expressing how people feel to their friends or family who may not be with them.

These Cake toppers have inspired me to make a cake for someone, I will not say their name in case they read this!
