Love Lomo

I came across these cameras while doing my daily shop in Urban Outfitters (Online of course, honestly cant afford to do out like that everyday...) They Inspired me so much, and me being into photography and vintage  stuff it was like  the perfect match. I was always wondering how people managed to take some pictures and now it is clear! This camera is like the point of life for people like me!  But I will need to discover a little more in terms of how to develop the pictures, as I heard off someone that you can only develop them in my bathroom if I use black and white film? I have got lots to learn...

Farewell Lollipop Man!

Although I don't eat sweets (because Im a weirdo) just the style of many vintage looking sweet shops, is a way of bringing joy into your lives. On St Johns Hill, there is a beautiful shop that unfortunately (only from a rumor) is closing!!! I could cry, I got my first party ring from there! It is a wonderful shop and go there before its too late. They just sell sweets but also cute home-ware and pretty memorabilia! GO GO GO!

Oh too darling!

Back in the year of 2005, trawling through paperchase in its early days I came across a pack of postcards that I thought just had a cute doll on it called Blythe. But she wasn't ordinary. I loved the pack of cards and I thought the doll was really cute and very retro. Then 6 years later, when I get ambitiously arty and into textiles I then decide to track down these dolls and see how it would be possible to get one. (after watching those diet coke adverts with the puppets it inspired me.) This was when I discovered the misfit doll from the 70s. In 1972 (correct me if Im wrong) kenner produced Blythe, but only stayed on for one year because of bad sales. (This was because of many children being scared of her large eyes that change colour. Some say she has a resemblance to chuckie...I say no.) Many were still interested in this doll, it was asia and america to make a comeback in the late 1990s early 2000s. So, thanks to them I am honored to own my own one, Florence (Phoebe Maybe.)

Bowie Before Us

Generally, I feel like I have been born in the wrong decade. I may be a girl of the 21st Century, but my heart and spirit has always been the 20th century. Anytime from the 20s to the 80s, those are my years of great fashion, great change and great Icons. Such as David Bowie. The Genius! As I was watching a documentary about him I have discovered how I appreciate his uniqueness. I am in ore of his style and his music.

Secrets of Maurizo Anzeri

After discovering this artist in my art class I am now curious how he is able to to do this type of intricate art!

'Maurizio Anzeri makes his portraits by sewing directly into found vintage photographs. His embroidered patterns garnish the figures like elaborate costumes, but also suggest a psychological aura, as if revealing the person’s thoughts or feelings. The antique appearance of the photographs is often at odds with the sharp lines and silky shimmer of the threads. The combined media gives the effect of a dimension where history and future converge...'

The Scribblings of a Madcap Shambleton

"Growing up in the jungles of India there was no need for drawing or painting, I would sometimes arrange ants into primitive still lives or scratch out portraits onto the trunks of trees. Things changed when I was 11, a lame tiger who owned a stationery shop gave me the keys to his stock room. I would roll around in acrylic and oil pastels in a reverie, licking canvases and tucking coloured pencils into my wild hair. It was here I learned how to draw and paint well enough to be accepted into Croyden Art College. There, Dexter Dalwood (Turner Prize nominee) taught me and after two years under his supreme tutelage and much hard graft he advised me to become a comedian." Noel Fielding

Day of the Dead!!!

I really love this mexican festival. Rather than thinking of it as creepy that it is celebrating the dead, I think it is beautiful and an amazing way of expressing how people feel to their friends or family who may not be with them.

These Cake toppers have inspired me to make a cake for someone, I will not say their name in case they read this!

Hello......
After you suffering through my obsessing over Frida Kahlo, I am also interested in vintage styling so quite a while back I made these Vintage/Iconic photos inspired plates and Andy Warhole inspired pieces of art. Basically, all I did was find scraps of colored paper and stuck them down making layer one, then I drew the features on an acetate. It's surprisingly simple yet effective!
